Production Floor Positions
Our process starts with our masking team protecting all areas of customer parts that will not receive a surface treatment. This involves a variety of tools and techniques as well as best practices designed to ensure precision and compliance with work instructions.
There is great, daily variety to the types of parts masked, ranging from simple designs to complex geometries. You're always learning as new parts are introduced. Since room for error is minimal, it takes a lot of patience, hand dexterity and hand-eye coordination to complete the job accurately.
You'll enjoy this job if you like challenging processes that take mental and physical dexterity to complete. Current maskers enjoy the feeling of accomplishment learning and mastering new types of parts and enjoy the camaraderie of the small team.
Grit Blast Technician
Once the parts are masked and only the area to be treated is exposed, our technicians blast the part with an abrasive grit. This role requires a careful eye and steady hand to do create a uniform roughness so that we maximize the adherence and location of the coating. While it's a challenging job to move between various pieces of blasting equipment throughout a work shift in order to perform a task with precision, this critical role determines the success of the coating application. And who doesn’t like the word “blast” in their title?!
Thermal Spray Technician
The core of our business happens through our thermal spray technicians. Each technician operates a spray booth equipped with a stationary robot and mounted spray gun. Each step requires precision and care to ensure that the coating is applied to the parts properly. Attention to detail is essential to prevent the costs associated with any rework.
Post Processing Technician
Once the coating is applied, post processing technicians remove the masking and finish the process by cleaning the parts and using mostly small hand tools and bench top equipment to finish the process for final inspection. Excelling in this role requires a careful eye for quality since a wrong move could damage the coating or part.
